ipadUpdate: We should take a hard stance on Apple's new device, the iPad. We say you're going to want this and we support your desire. Whether you're a student, professional, blogger or whatever, the iPad fits any guy's needs.Let's start with some hard specs: The iPad is 0.5 inches thick, 1.5 pounds and sports a 9.7 inch IPS display (it's roughly the same size as the Kindle DX). The iPad comes with three Flash storage options (16G , 32GB or 64GB). You'll also get the best in wireless connectivity, including Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1 and 3G (optionally). Inside the iPad you'll find a 1GHz Apple A4 chip. The iPad has a 10 hour battery life (so watching movies on cross-Atlantic flights isn't a problem) and 1 month of standby. There's obviously an accelerometer, but there's also a compass, speaker, microphone, 30-pin dock, full QWERTY keyboard (in fact there are several keyboards that are dedicated to specific tasks). The iPad streams and has YouTube, YouTube HD and the iTunes Store built in.

camIf everything you wanted to shoot were at eye level, then we'd probably be OK with the huge, stationary LCDs on most digital cameras. If your view of the world, however, is slightly askew or you simply can't lie on the floor, climb on a chair or otherwise reposition yourself to get the shot you want, then it makes sense for your camera to do it for you.The models below are digital cameras with LCDs that move, meaning that they flip out and twist around for at least 270 degrees of photographic freedom. You may ask why there aren't more cameras with this oh-so-useful design: In cameras -- and most small devices in fact, including flip phones -- the hinge is one of the most fragile parts, and many manufacturers don't want to deal with the resulting support and warranty issues. Only Canon offers this feature across several product lines. So, if you do opt for one of these flexible models, treat it with care.

chevyYou think clothes make the man? Think again. Actions speak louder than words, and what you drive says more about you than apparel ever could. What’s more, certain types of rides frequently appeal to certain demographics -- to the extent that you could classify the drivers and their rides of choice after giving either the once over.Don’t believe us? Take a look around you while you sit in traffic: The red-eyed, neo-hippie in the VW, rustic Volvo wagon or old biodiesel Benz; Bohemian Rhapsody. A slouched playa in the old-man sedan on chromed 20" rims; Smoove Move. The smelly, messy, smoking, barely functioning wreck -- with the matching guy delivering pizzas behind the wheel; Nothing to Lose, the Early Years. If Ben & Jerry's would have named drivers and their rides instead of ice cream, it would go a lot like this. Call it stereotyping, if you want to be like the self-righteous Prius driver who saves additional energy by not signaling in traffic, sure. We have a name for them too, but our lawyers are giving us the stink-eye. Many of our lawyers are Porcupines, incidentally.

Sony BraviaSony BRAVIA XBR-LX900 Series LCD 3-D HDTVs
Available this summer in sizes ranging from 40 to 60 inches, the Sony XBR line of TVs is easily one of the most feature-packed ever built. Visually striking thanks to Sony’s new monolithic design philosophy, it’s fully equipped for optimal 3-D viewing with RealD’s active shutter glasses thanks to a laundry list of advancements.

These include: Motionflow PRO 240Hz technology, BRAVIA Engine 3 digital video processing and new OptiContrast panels designed to minimize reflection and refraction for deeper, blacker images. Onboard Wi-Fi also allows the LX900 series to easily connect to home networks, giving them access to online content from sources such as Netflix, Amazon on Demand, YouTube, Pandora, Sony Pictures, and many more.

Last but definitely not least on this 3-D TV, Sony’s new Intelligent Presence Sensor with face detection enables the unit to know if you’ve stepped away from the TV or aren’t watching, causing the backlight to dim in order to save energy. It will even turn off the TV if no one enters the viewing area after an extended period of time. In a similar fashion, the unit's Position Control feature detects the viewer’s face position in relation to the screen and adjusts output accordingly to deliver an optimized video and audio experience, which could prove to be quite useful, particularly for those who have trouble viewing 3-D content. A distance alert feature can also warn little ones to view the TV only from a safe eye-friendly distance.

If you've ever felt as though there weren't enough hours in the day to accomplish everything you wanted to do, allow me to introduce one of the world's most high-tech mobile offices and entertainment centers: Digital Wheels . It's hard to believe that a van could possibly contain virtually everything that a man's heart desires (you'll have to provide the women yourself -- sorry), from a video arcade and home theater to Internet access and MP3 digital music.

Although I'm sure that I, as well as many other men, would enjoy moving into this futuristic vehicle, I opted instead to check out what it really had to offer and how simple it would be to man all the available features. And since most people execute many extraordinary activities while they drive in this day and age (you know those cell phone talking, caffe latte drinking fellows?), now you'll be able carry on as though you were still at work in this mobile office. You can communicate with friends, colleagues and family through e-mail, hold meetings, have conference calls, and even view presentations. But if you really want to appreciate the amazed look on your guests' faces, you'll want to pull over to show them everything this awesome piece of machinery has to offer. I have to say, I had to wipe the dribble from my mouth a couple of times.
